Veneers

Dental veneers are usually placed over the front teeth to allow changes to colour and shape of the teeth. Teeth that are too small, too big, or have funny looking craters or bulges in them, that ruin an otherwise great smile, can have veneers placed to fix the problem. Many veneering systems are available eg: ,Empress®, Inceram®, Dicor®, Artglass® and PVS®

Inlays

Inlays repair moderately damaged back teeth and are made of extremely tough industrial strength ceramics. Inlays are glued into place with specialised adhesives and hold damaged parts of the tooth together. We can manufacture extremely tight fitting and durable fillings or "inlays" for back teeth. ArtglassTM porcelain inlays are recognised as the toughest in the world, and the manufacturing process ensures the highest degree of accuracy in placing these fillings. Because the tooth is "activated" before placing these inlays, they bind onto the tooth and increase the "strength" of the filled tooth (most other fillings are weaker than unfilled teeth).

Bleaching

Dental Bleaching can be used to correct many tooth discolourations. These discolourations may have been caused by staining, ageing, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in bleaching technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful "Brilliant" smile. In our practices, we choose the OpalescenceTM bleaching materials. They have been proven to be the most effective of the bleaching materials available and the most reliable. Although bleaching is very effective, some short term disadvantages are sometimes encountered. Some people get sore gums or teeth from the bleach, but this ALWAYS disappears after stopping bleach use. Bleaching is not 100% predictable, no matter what anyone says. World research would indicate that bleaching is totally effective in 85% of people, but it is impossible to accurately tell who it will not work for. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, bleaching may not be the answer and crowns, or veneers may be the only choice, but because of the low cost of bleaching treatments, bleaching is nearly always worth a solid try.

Technique

An impression is taken to make a specialised "mouthguard" or "stent" to hold the bleach against the teeth. You then syringe the Opalescence into the tray, and seat the tray on your teeth

Bonding

Tooth bonding can correct minor defects in teeth. Although many types of fillings are "bonded", most people associate "bonding" with the common use for correction of problems with front teeth. Bonded fillings are made of"high tech" plastic. The plastic fillings come in many different colours, so there will be one to match the colour of anybody's teeth. As the material used in bonding is a plastic, it can deteriorate over time and can only be described as a short to medium term solution for cosmetic problems. A far more certain correction is gained by using ceramic veneers. For very small problems, bonding is ideal, but for most common cosmetic defects, bonding is a short term solution only. Bonded cosmetic changes tend to be prone to colour change after about 5 yearsnding
